Crazy winter weather

I am not really sure if the weather has been crazy, or that we have been spoiled with rather calm winters, compared to the long, cold, snowy winters we used to have.  Winter is decidedly different here in Nova Scotia than it is in Ontario, where we are from.  We started off the New Year with a blizzard!   Now I must confess, I have been in a true blizzard before, this was not nearly as severe, or cold or snowy.  But it was bad enough here that the city pretty much shut down.  Dh had the day off already, but he did end up closing the facility early in the day.  I forget what the wind chill was, but it was the coldest we have experienced since moving here.

The snow piling up on the deck off the kitchen, Devin standing in front to show the difference.

We were very thankful to not lose power, as it would be quite the digging expedition to get to the barbeque!

The very next morning dawned brilliantly bright and sunny, and the snow was beautiful!  We were plowed out the evening before by our neighbour who has an ATV, what a blessing he is!  The roads were not great but not terrible either. We needed to head into town to get some building materials for Robyn and Robert to finish the baby's room, so we were able to get in safely.

Beautiful day for a walk through the woods!

A little left over colour from the warmer, damper weather.  This is a really pretty fungus!

And now this week?  Well, after we have had several heavy rainfalls, which turned to ice, and then melted again, we are now greeted with greening grass, flowing streams and the only snow is clumped in piles and covered in so much salt and grit it may not melt until July!  Today people were out in the bright sunshine in T Shirts and no coats to speak of!  Glorious!

We decided to hold off school yesterday and head here instead, a little sea glass beach in the fishing village.

Peeking through the hole in the sea ice, watching the lobster boats bring in the catch.

I hope spring is on the way!

Decluttering

Decluttering is something I actually enjoy doing.  I find it is freeing and makes me feel less anxious.

I am finding I need to declutter other areas of my life....and decluttering friends is not what I consider fun.

I cannot continually surround myself with people who drain the joy out of my life.  I am on Facebook and there are people who do just that...as long as they can say what they want , they are happy.  But if you give your opinion...forget it.  Sounds like a familiar news story doesn't it?

Facebook is not always what it is cracked up to be. It is a great way to keep connected, but it can also be a great place to get feelings hurt, and misunderstand each other.

Onwards and upwards!
